I have been a studio engineer for 20 years, I have been behind the mic for just short of that number. I have bought tons of gear for a few studios including mine.

Today I had a session for a new product roll out AV for PreSonus. Guess what I could not say in a sentence.... Pre-freakin-Sonus! Holy crap it was like pulling teeth. They would give me the correct pronunciation, and I would go back and pick up the sentence, and STILL get it wrong! haha!

Finally with some gentle nudging from the client and the engineer, I got it and they were happy. But come on man... PreSonus! I have a tube pre sitting in the box in my studio! UGH!

Happy Monday!

I think I might assemble a blooper reel the next time I edit a long form piece. The number of repeats on some phrases... eesh. I feel ya. Smile

I always like how a normal word sounds wrong when said often enough.

Bowl.

Bowl bowl bowl bowl bowl bowl bowl...

I'm glad you shared this— it makes all the "nope— that's not it" direction feel less damning.

I had to redo something today even though I had crossed out the word and written it phonetically above the line.

It happens to all of us one at one time or another. Sometimes taking your eyes off the word helps as long as you can find your place again quickly.

That's a good one Zac. Yesterday in a session with a director and an engineer I could not get myself to say "sustainability". So frustraiting, but so funny at the same time!! We were all chuckling and had a good laugh with it. Laugh

This wasn't a 'voice-over' incident per se, rather, one of my first of many on-air atrocities. I was a young radio DJ who reluctantly also had to do newscasts. The line in the story was "...the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders..."

It came out: "...the Morris County Board of Frozen Cheeseholders..."

My dad was listening at home and never let me forget it. Wish I had an aircheck.

haha! Great replies!

I have to say, I am glad the client was a long time client/friend. He left the phone patch open at one point and as I was reading the dreaded word in a sentence, I could tell that I'd gotten it wrong once again because I heard the client laugh and say "nope"! haha

Today I feel confident that I will be able to get through the scripts sitting in front of me with out a hitch. (That is because they are all director-less sessions!)

At the end of the session the client was asked if he was cool with the final playback of an edit and he said "Winner" to which my reply was of course..."Duh!"

I hate this brain glitch thingy that makes us trip over or not be able to say something we've said correctly a million times.
