Yesterday, did I blog, post, Twit, facetube, youbook, connect, SEO, Social Mediazise, network, friend, follow, stalk, ask for a testimonial, maximise opportunities to cross-sell or hold my finger in the air to see which way the wind was blowing? No.

I went to the Post Office in Buckie. In two carrier bags I had 24 padded envelopes - Contents were, demo CD, printed VO CV, two sh*t pens. I asked Postman Pat to deliver these items to people who may like to add another Voiceoverist to their already extensive list of Voiceoverists.

What next?
Most of the envelopes will raise my profile a bit and nothing more, but that's good. 3 will result in work. 1 job will cover the cost of the exercise including my time and 2 will be jobs turning into repeat clients. Out of the 2, one will be nice little beer money jobs and the other will be significantly more.

Mailing CDs is a waste of time. Everybody knows that.

Funny though, I just did a run through several different agents. Most were "send us an mp3 and/or link"....one insisted on CD demo, resume, bio ect.

That was the one that I heard back from first....and the most personal response as well. I signed with them.

This is a good reminder for me. I have CD's that were produced. They're not doing any good sitting on the shelf, might as well send them out. The resume has grown, I'm busier, couldn't hurt to be even more so.

A very wise friend of mine has always loved the phrase "favor no one weapon".

Gotta bunch of arrows in the quill?. There's a time to use 'em all.

I've been mailing out CDs, as well. Steely Dan's Greatest Hits, The best of
Elton John and others. Lots of lovely thank you notes, but no job offers thus far.
So far, not a great ROI, but I'll keep you informed.
What am I doing wrong?

If you want useless try Social Networking, it's the new Amway. CDs not working? Try sending soap powder.

i used to collect baby shoes and send them out with a packet & a note that said "just trying to get my foot in the door" -

also - something i've done before is print a resume/headshot, wad it up, smooth it out again and send it along with a demo CD in a broken case and a note saying "please don't throw this away again". i actually had one person ask if i'd been digging through his trash.

I was thinking of sending out some CDs, too. I have a couple of AOL Version 7.0s, some AOL 6.0s, and a $h!+l0@d of AOL 5.0s. Rolls Eyes
