A Florida production company recently contacted me through Voice 123 and asked me to read several movie-trailer style lines for a mock movie trailer to be used to promote a Navy kid's camp.
I would be directed over Skype and it's just 4-5 lines per script, i.e. "You're in the middle of an already impossible mission...", "You're hurled through time and space to Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.", etc. There would be three scripts total and I was asked what I wanted to be paid for this.
Calculating a rate based on word count or recorded time doesn't really work here, so how can I best price this? Please let me know what you think and then I'll tell you what I ended up quoting. Thanks! _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

Thx, Philip! Should one charge any less if there's no live session?
Knowing how cheap V123 gigs can be and not wanting to overprice myself, I offered a range of $80 - $120 per script, as it's just several lines. Thought it'd be easy-peezy. He quickly said it was a "great price". We settled somewhere in the middle and I told him to consider it a "first-time client" discount.
We did the session a couple nights ago--my first time to be directed via Skype. It seemed to go OK though he had me doing A LOT of takes with different styles, i.e. flat, military, dramatic, etc. Took about 30 min. for 5 lines. Eventually, he said he had everything he needed, would contact me soon about the other scripts, and asked how to pay. I then edited the file a bit, normalized, and sent it out. Waiting for payment confirmation and word that the takes were useable.
I'll definitely apply those rates for the next Skype session that comes along! Thanks for weighing in! _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

I would tend to charge the same as sessions can come back to bite you because you haven't guessed correctly what the client wanted. |
