If someone wants to advertise on a website -- how does it work and what would you charge?
We would like to do it based on faith rather than number of hits or clicks.
It's a highly targeted audience.
Any thoughts? _________________ http://MichaelSchoen.com |

I just got back from an MCA-I meeting about monetizing Internet content and the more targeted the better actually.
Are you wanting to place an ad on someone's site, or does someone want to place an ad on a site you have?
This question assumes the former - does this website have a "rate card" - probably not, or you wouldn't be asking I guess.
Does the content change on a regular basis? Do they do other sorts of outreach (social networks, podcasts, videos, forums, etc.)?
Eyeballs are important to help determine a rate. _________________ Playing for a living...

When my "Using Humor" site was in the top 100,000 web sites (according to Alexa, and the "magic" number for attracting ads) I used to get contacted about advertising occasionally. Text ads in the sidebar usually paid me $15 to $25 a month. I have never made a dime from Amazon or any other "commission based" display type ads. I may have a made a few bucks from Google Adsense. So it's pretty obvious that "retiring on a passive six-figure internet income!" didn't work out for me.
It is possible to monetize a site, but it is a job that takes constant work and tending to make happen. I had to decide if I wanted to chase social media sites, flog new blog posts, and tirelessly pursue search engine optimization, or do something I enjoyed.
If someone is offering a few bucks for a spot, take it. At least, it will help pay for your hosting. _________________ I'm still...
