Looks like ICANN, the people who determine what extensions will be available for domain names (such as .com, .net, .org, .xxx), are opening up the Web to any extension you want, so long as you fork over $185,000.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13835997
So if all of us in the biz chipped in together we could get .vo, .vox, .voice, .voiceoverist, .willannounceforfood, whatever our hearts desire.
Or not.

Interesting, they state that part of that high fee is for the law suits they expect to defend against.
They can email Trouble@CanOWorms.Lawyer

But the real question is: Why would I want yourname.vo instead of myname.vo?

Can of worms is right, Bruce.
So many things can be done with subdomains that I don't see this as a benefit to anyone. At least no benefit beyond what can be gained by using the existing domain extensions.
I own a domain com-see.us
I can add any subdomain to it. For example:
http://vo-bb.com-see.us
No benefit. But fun. Same applies to this.
