we've built a new high school and before tearing down the old one built in the teens they had a big auction today. this turn of the century drafting desk was part of a lot of 17 that sold for $1800. i'm STILL trying to buy one from the lady who won the bid.
the stool swings out and it's all iron & oak & cool & weighs about 250 pounds ...
i DID buy 16 school lockers for $10! _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

I have seen that style before at auctions and various places - the drafting desks with the swing-out stools - SO cool and would be SO great for anyone who does what most of us around here do: sit at a mic and read stuff!
Laptop right there on the desk, mic on a boom swingin in, gettin VO bizzy on the swing-out stool - your neighbors will be SO jealous! lol.
If you could get hold of one, it could be refinished, or stripped to plain wood, or anything - I hope you can get one, or six _________________ ~Shock

I think we used those in drafting class in my old high school in Ottawa, Illinois. _________________ Gregory Best

That falls under the 'wicked awesome' banner, I believe. Kinda steam-punky, innit? Very cool.
