How many people use Voicebank.net?
I tried to find out more about them, but keep running into their marketing vs if they're helpful or a distraction. _________________ Company, villainous company, hath been the spoil of me...

Voicebank is THE source to find talent and (or) VO agents throughout the world. It's also a resource for buyers to post auditions for agents. A handful of actors pay extra to have their personal websites available, but I myself don't see that's worth the money. If you have an agent and your agent posts your demos, if the buyer wants to delve deeper to see if you have a wesbsite they can do a google search. But chances are, if you have an agent you are posted on Voicebank. If you don't, I don't see it's worth the money to post a demo there on your own. Rarely do buyers surf around listening to random demos in search of talent. And agents never do. |

Yep. Voicebank is famous for putting the REAL voiceover business on the internet.
You may or may not need one of their personal websites, but their Voiceregistry.com program has recently been renovated, and there's more to it now.
Their free membership is free and their fancy membership is very inexpensive. It can help you get an agent (or a better one), and having a webpresence associated to Voicebank can't hurt!
But I think their Weekend Workout is worth the price of admission all by itself. It's a great way to get heard and receive straight-shooting feedback from agents and casting directors. Plus people actually book work and get signed!
You have to be a represented talent to show up in the Voicebank.net house reels and get invited (by your agent) for auditions. But Voiceregistry.com is open to all voice talents, whether they have an agency rep or not. _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

I 2nd Amy's post. I have agents on Voicebank and am also on Voice Registry. I like the weekend workouts. I've got some great feedback from some good agents and directors. Long term, it certainly helps to broaden your range with direction. |

So glad this thread popped up! I had registered on Voiceregistry with a free membership a while back...and then forgot all about it. Now I'm a full member and looking forward to some constructive critique on the weekends too!

For $7 a month you should go platinum. Do the workouts. |

For some reason I'd thought the Weekend Workouts were in-person. Hmmm, the upgraded membership is definitely sounding worth it. Now to just gather up the courage to put myself out there No pain, no gain I guess. _________________ Arlene Cooke

That's one of the main reasons I signed up. A small price for some weekly real-world tuneup and feedback. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Chuck, for some reason when I click on your link on Voiceregistry, it fails and doesn't go to anything. You might want to check on that. _________________ Arlene Cooke

I'm not quite familiar with Voiceregistry (nor its benefits,) but I know that if you're on Voicebank there is a service called Premium Link that will add a star icon and link your name to your personal website. If I remember correctly, it was about $300 a year (including setup fee) and I may have received a few click-through's (about 3+ per month.)
But that was in 2007/2008 and I wasn't very good then, so no amount of Premium *anything* would have helped.
With that said, the people at VB (especially Amber) are indeed very helpful with answering your questions if you have any.

If you have an interweb presence and people are looking for you then you will be found. Spend your money on you as opposed to being part of the collective "them". |

I can't argue with that, PB. I just think that, if one is working on improving one's booking ratio, $7 a month (less than $2 a week!) seems like a good price for 4 virtual weekend workouts and the personalized feedback from agents & CD's.
Heck, I think it's worth it even if one chooses just to listen and benefit from everyone else's feedback. _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.
