I did a search on my name to make sure I showed up, remembered your comment and searched your name as well. There are two Chucks. I clicked on your name and it gave an error message. _________________ Arlene Cooke

I figured it out. I had the account settings re-directing to my site with an incomplete url. I deleted that so now it goes directly to my Voiceregistry page.
I'm planning to update my regular site with some of the content that's on the Voiceregistry page...along with a new narration reel. Once thats done I'll have the Voiceregistry redirect to my site.
Thanks Arlene! _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

It's not so much as being found as the weekend workouts where you get feedback from casting directors and agents and that is spending money on your self improvement as an actor. It's interesting to see what perspective some of the CDs and Agents have and you can tell by their feedback what kind of people they are and what they look for from talent. You'll need a tough hide sometimes. I find that a few of the guests have been highly critical. Mostly because they are not familiar with most of the talents and they come off as abrasive. As VO you take what you find useful and can discard the rest or figure out if there was something you were missing or not understanding or maybe...even what the guest is missing or doesn't really get. This is because it's a 1 shot deal. You audition. They critique. Fin! I've made a couple good connections from the workouts which I otherwise would not have done. |

This is interesting about the weekend workouts. Sounds like it would be a good learning tool, as Amy said, even if you just listen. It has definitely piqued my curiosity!
I went to the site but couldn't see many details without joining first. Eddie or others who do it, can you elaborate a bit on how the sessions go? e.g. It sounds like it is a conference call, so is the audition live or do you submit a recording and receive comments during the call? If live do you have a chance to take the direction and repeat your audition? etc
Thanks!

This will be my first week participating Jen. You download and record the script and upload your audition. Critiques are then posted online. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Newbie here. Is Voicebank for established VO talent? I'm having no joy on Voices123 (got a "Maybe" from a potential client, though) or Voices.com, though I have done a few radio intros for Internet stations, and am doing some audiobook work (volunteer). |

In order to get leads from voicebank you need to be represented by an agent who pays the fee to be included. To participate in the audition reviews, you simply pay the monthly fee.
I signed up for this option, and spent a good deal of time several months ago listening to the auditions and reading the critiques. As with anything like this the amount and value of the input from the directors will vary.
One script caught my eye and I submitted a take for review. (Was quite pleased with the critique, which validated my self-direction skills.) The next time I had a chance to check (when particularly interesting casting director/agent was going to be critiquing), the script was so far out of my normal work, that I decided against submitting.
And as the number of people expands and begins to participate in this exercise, I worry that the directors will become wary of participating and truncate their responses even further than I observed several months ago. _________________ Playing for a living...

I do the weekend workout on a fairly regular basis, and have found the feedback useful but at the same time frustrating..this week I did a piece of promo copy; the guest agent said my read was "almost there",..and suggested a promo coach (didn't know they had those) that could get me to the "next level"..I wanted to write back "honey, I'm not even at the first level!"..
All in all it's still worth the money.. |

Hahaha that was an awesome critique, Chuck! Warm and fuzzies, indeed.
Hey, question - did you do the mock audition at Faffcon? Are we meant to be getting some feedback on those? I haven't heard anything yet.
In any case, I've been meaning to start up with the w/e workouts. _________________ www.mattcowlrick.com |

Hopefully this link will work, Matt. It's the audio and critique from the workout we did at Faffcon:
