'Kidding. I heard it's tons of work and I look forward to playing in this new arena... at least for this upcoming project (they might not have me back after it's all said and done.)
What I speak of is a booking that came about from my first audiobook audition. Thanks to a chat and consult with Jeffrey Kafer, I caught on and submitted what would have otherwise given the publisher and author nothing but a good laugh.
Today I was thinking that many of us set out to build something for ourselves in voice-over. I am grateful that what Jeffrey Kafer has built, has also helped build for others.
Salud!

Anthony,
Well said. Jeff has done himself proud, no question. He's also a man who knows how to be a good friend and I'm grateful to be one to both of you. _________________ Be well,

Jeff's been a mentor to me also as I do audiobooks and grow in this field and I can't say how much I appreciate his help. Well said, Anthony. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

oh my gosh. I feel like I just walked into a cocktail party and y'all are talking about me.
I'm still travelling my road to success, but over the past 2.5 years since being abruptly ejected from the corporate workforce, a lot of very good folks have have been incredibly supportive and helpful. Not just the usual rah rah stuff. Anthony took the time to have breakfast with myself and Paddyo when I was in NY for Huckabee. I got a chance to pick his brain and see what a great guy he is. (And of course, everyone knows the awesomeness that is Bob Souer).
So if I can pass a little bit of that generosity back to Anthony and forward to others, you better believe I'm going to. I'm not a believer in karma exactly, but I am a believer in doing the right thing by others. Blame my mother for that one.
Ok mushy speech over. Anthony got the gig because he was the right voice for the project (which is not a secret, so feel free to share it with the rest of the class, Anthony). _________________ Jeff

Well done Anthony, and +1 to everything said about Jeff!
If I have any advice, it's just be aware of the stamina needed and the time required to narrate and edit a 16-hour book. It can be exhausting! _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Sharing is caring. (Who made that up anyway? It never works with my kids.)
The story is dark - very dark - and takes place in Manhattan. It's a perfect match for me:
The timbre of my voice plays well in the horror genre - deep enough but not too deep to be distracting; My speech has enough authentic New Yawk to anchor the location but not gangster enough to alienate the general public; and, as a result of being born in NYC, I can easily visualize the scenery which helps me tell the story.
I thought it was perfect for me. Turns out it was.
The title is "Ladies Night."

Just an update: I'm loving the work. It really is freeing and keeps my editing skills sharp.
On Sunday, I decided to audition for three more. A couple of hours later, I booked one of those three. *Much* longer project - the title I'll be narrating is this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Hugo-Chavez-Story-Perpetual-Revolution/dp/158642145X
The nice thing about this one is that, although it's Royalty-Share, it does have a stipend that will contribute to my AFTRA H&R.
I'm on somewhat of a roll here with ACX (knock on wood.) Thanks again, Jeffrey for introducing me to this world.
