I was going to post this under WILD AND SOMEWHAT LESS WILD but I didn't know if it qualifies.
Our grocery store has an incentive program. My family eats a lot. We also get as much from there as possible (gift cards, pharmacy and I even have them place special orders for a few things - like Throat Coat!). Hence, the more we buy, the cheaper our gas. Or the more we eat, the more gas we get. Thank goodness they also sell room fresheners. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

I've done it a few times in the past several months so I put 36 cents on the counter and told the guy I wanted to fill the tank. This time I had to go back and give him a penny because I'd gotten the tank so low!
As great as the program is, I'm still paying more for some things than I should at the store. If I really shopped around I could get by 1 get 2 on canned tomatoes and beans and many other things we use often. But it sure feels good to not have to pay $60 to fill my tank! _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

I'm in awe. We have a Kroger card, but it doesn't save ANYTHING like that... _________________ Always look on the bright side of life.

Tom Thumb, in Dallas, has the same program but we would have to buy about $2500 worth of groceries to get that kind of discount... how big did you say your family was?
On a side note, I worked at a Stuckey's in college (one of the first roadside places to add gas pumps to a restaurant/store) and wore one of their T-shirts with the slogan "Eat here and get gas" _________________ I'm still...

There are only 4 of us but here's what I do -
-I have all of our prescriptions filled there (there aren't many but it adds u
-I buy all pharmacy related things there
-I will make special requests for things we like (Z Bars add up, as do dry erase markers that the girls need in school and , in the end, I get a better deal there than at Staples since it goes toward gas)
-I use gift cards a lot and now that stores carry them for almost every retail outlet/restaurant, it adds up. I'll even go in and buy $50 worth of Home Depot if I'm making a trip (and for this new booth build it was great!)
-pretty much all of our groceries come from there.
-I cook almost all of our meals and we don't eat out often.
It's ten cents off per gallon when you spend $50 (and you don't have to spend it all at once). This time around, third time this summer, I had more than $4 on the card so I got the gas for under forty cents. It takes a couple of months for them to expire and they roll the credits over so you don't lose lose. I only buy gas every couple of weeks or so. While there are places I could get a few things cheaper, I can't beat the convenience factor of the store which, in my book, is worth the few extra cents. Plus I love their produce, which is where most of the grocery money goes. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.
