My response:
Dear Emily,
I appreciate the rollicking nature of the show, believe me. And I love to hear the jokes even when/ESPECIALLY when people I support and like get skewered. (and I am pretty left of center!)
But ad hominem attacks are beneath contempt and are simply not worthy of a flagship show of NPR.
Would Peter have made acne jokes about Christie if he had a bad complexion? I rather think not.
It was icky. We are smarter than that.

It has long been my contention that the overriding reason Mr. Christie never seriously considered running for president in 2012 was that he is so overweight. Early in his term he tried losing weight but was not successful. I predict you will see a slimmed down version ready to go in 2016.
I love "Wait, Wait" but they do hit a few bad notes now and then.
