Unfortunately, Mike and I never met, but his knowledge and generosity of
spirit have enriched my life and my work, and I'll be forever grateful.
Godspeed. _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

Still shocked by this. Mike and I had a few exchanges over the years about sound proofing and his knowledge was amazing. He WILL be missed! |

I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Knowing how highly Amy Snively and DB spoke of him is certainly enough for me to know how a great a guy he must've been. While I never met him personally, he was an immediate supporter of my efforts for which I am very grateful. His support and kind words meant so much because he really knew what he was talking about and he believed in doing things right. He will be missed. _________________ www.sound4vo.com

Crushed. I've followed Mike's posts and conversations here and elsewhere for a long time now, and have learned much from this warm and generous man. Absolutely crushed.... _________________ Don Brookshire

...with so many people in life being "generous" with useless information, it was a revelation to discover mike on this forum, literally giving away sound studio advice...WITH DIAGRAMS...for anyone who could use it.
am only sorry i never met the guy in person. _________________ rowell gormon

Jeeeez! Can't believe this! Mike has helped me more times than I can count. So shocked. I can't recall anyone on any forum anywhere that was ever quite so generous and giving as Mike. He virtually designed my studio. Rest in peace man - you'll be sorely missed! |

Incredible...just like that. Though I interacted with Mike plenty of times online and gleamed so much knowledge and insight from posts on his various hangout locations, I never got to meet the guy in person.
You know what though, his generosity and experience will live on through this board as people search the VO-BB archives for "home studio" and "shotgun mics" and "sound treatment" and "voiceover demo" and so much more. We'll continue learning from Mike for years to come.
Rest in peace. _________________ www.mattcowlrick.com |

so many of us DO know him, even though we never met, and that includes me. selfishly, i am now kicking myself that i didn't have any face time with mike. from his generous input on the board to phone calls and PMs, and yes, i was a recipient of his generosity, his passing will leave a HUGE void for those of us who "knew" him. it makes me weep.
i'm so saddened to hear this, and much more so for his family and all those he left behind. rest in peace, friend. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

I'm so shocked and saddened by this news. He was a daily, wonderful presence on this board and helped so many, here and out in the wide world.
It's very hard to process this. |

One of the cool things about Mike, was that he never minced words. If your demo sucked, he told you. If your room sounded like ass, he made no apologies for his opinion. And he never did it to be mean or spiteful or to hurt anyone's feelings. He was a dose of tuff love because he genuinely had a love for this business and wanted everyone to succeed and do *better*.
He ruffled feathers and made better birds. Power to him. _________________ Jeff

I'm still having a hard time believing he's gone. My recording made giant leaps in quality because of Mike.
My thoughts are with his family. He will be missed. |

+1 on this. Mike could be a PITA, but his intentions were always the best. I don't mind PITAs. I think the world could use more PITAs who have their hearts in the right place. And personally, I place a very high value on candid opinions - in my personal and my professional lives. I'll miss Mike, even though I never met or spoke with him. And I'm yet another in the very long line of people who benefited greatly from Mike's generosity. _________________ Best regards,
