If you are interested in recording/auditioning solutions for your iPhone, you might be interested in my recent blog post http://ow.ly/7ykZD _________________ Laughter is good medicine.

The way I see it, if I'm going to carry around an extra interface, adapters, and a mic, I might as well just pack a netbook or a MacBook Air and a MicPort.
Here's the thing. The iPhone serves it's purpose as a recording device if in fact you are absolutely stuck with no other options ( you are not packing any of your gear, someone needs a read ASAP, etc.) The ideal solution would be if Blue Mikey was iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s ready, then you'd have a little pocket device to snap on your iPhone and you're done. You still have the dilemna of not being able to read the script from the iPhone and record at the same time, unless you can get somewhere and get a script printed..
In a absolute pinch, there is a way to make an iPhone recording, (even with the onboard mic), somewhat usuable. First off, you gotta be somewhere relatively reflection free. Second, you pretty much have to be on top of the onboard mic and try to record @ at least -3db. Thirdly, with the Twisted Wave A you can roll of with a Hi-Pass @ 65hz and use the Dynamics Expander to gate some of that awful hiss ... a very slight bit of EQ in the upper mids for presence and I've had some tracks that were at least listenable..
The iAudition a is okay too, but I find the Twisted Wave a more feature rich. |
