Hi peeps! Something terrible has happened to my Microsoft Office live website.
The players that I used were gone when I looked today, and I tried other codes and they worked at first and then it looked to be only only on IE, not Google etc. Then sporadically even on IE. Could it be because we have 64-bit now on the computer.
Anyway, it's time to find a better host. From back postings I see : 1&1, GoDaddy, and edatarack.com . I need one that's easy to use as I can only make simple ones, similar to what I have now.
Any suggestions about the above, or preferences not mentioned here?
Thanks guys, I'd better get on this as soon as...

Is a Windows server a requirement? If not, I highly recommend Medialayer and Crucialwebhost. They use PHP and MySQL, however.
They both use similar technologies as one another. Crucialwebhost calls it "Split-Shared" hosting. It's designed to lessen the load on the server compared to traditional shared hosting and affords you better speed.
Here's a link to MediaLayer:

And here's a link to Crucial:

GoDaddy is cheap and easy for linux hosting. But their barrage of constant upselling gets annoying. _________________ Jeff

Loves me some Squarespace... but it's not just hosting, it's a complete package. It may be a good solution depending on what you need... it'll import all the standard Wordpress and other blogs if you want it to. I'm still grandfathered in at $7 per month for standard, and for that, I'm not inclined to change soon! _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

I won't use GoDaddy because of their ads. You want to use sexism to sell me stuff.. you don't need my money.
I have a local host, BCN. Berkshire County Network. I like that when I call, I talk to Fred Menty, who started the BB back in the day. His tech guy is Wally at full moon isp
If I have a problem, they fix it. The money stays local, and right now they host 7 websites for me for 30 a quarter.
Go local. Works for me. _________________ Company, villainous company, hath been the spoil of me...

Thanks friends, I'll check these out. Because along with the sound players, my YouTube videos are gone. The Vimeo one is still there, and my "audioboo" player is gone - but the ipadio podcast player is still there. What do you think could have caused this?
Do all of these suggested sites provide sound players for demos?
Cheers gang! Happy hols! ^..^ _________________ Intuit and do it!

Most of these hosts come with script repositories like Installatron and Fantastico. You can simply choose a script and it auto-installs that package. I'd highly recommend you try out WordPress in this manner.
Very easy to install and manage. Just select the package you want (in this case WordPress) to install and follow the prompts. Then choose a template you like of the many free ones out there. Then you can install free plugins that allow you to use players and much more.
If you do decide to use WordPress and want to try an easy to use Flash player solution for audio/video, give Hana a try (Http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hana-flv-player/)
If you install the Hana extension as well (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hana-flv-extension/), it integrates in such a way that you only have to click a button to insert a player. Very nice if you want to keep things simple. There are also HTML5 alternatives out there for WordPress that allow Flash fallback depending on the detected browser.
Here is a link to a host that has some tutorials on how to install and use WordPress just to give you a better grasp of the process:
http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/wordpress/
If you decide to go that route and need some help, I'd be happy to lend a hand.
EDIT: Just noticed you have a blog on the WordPress site already. Sorry if I told you about stuff you were already aware of. The only difference would be you'd be using your own unique domain name without the .wordpress bit. |

Hostgator here as well. Great and snappy service on top of an affordable price. |

Thanks guys. I've gone to all the sites you mentioned and bookmarked them for action after I come back from holidays. _________________ Intuit and do it!
