Oh, that was fun!

On another note - if you ever wanted to know native New Yorkers - try this

**** BUT BIG TIME LANGUAGE AND CONTENT ALERT******

S***Native New Yorkers Say

This would actually be a good reference if you need a real NYC accent.

Don't confuse it with S** New Yorkers Say - -- made by Longuylanders, not city natives.

sorry for the threadjack, Joe!

I love it!

Love the New York one too. But then the "f" word was always my fave curse word, so I've felt for a long time that I could fit right in there if I needed to. Of course, now that I have kids, all that colorful language has become sadly neglected. Heh. Wink

Since there's a slight sideways drift to this thread, one of my favorite authors, Christopher Moore, introduced me to a wonderful variation on the "F" word in my favorite book by him ("Lamb"): F***-tard

Love it. Don't use it often since I still have 'kids' living at home, but it does come in handy at times.

I've lived out here for about fifteen years now, but I still wake in a cold sweat after the nightmare that has me developing a Longuyland accent. Gasp Cries

Did you notice the the mic is a Shure SM81. Had one, traded it for an AKG 451EB hyper cardiod

On further investigation I see he uses a short shot gun

I usually drop the f-bomb at least once in my class to get a laugh. But I try to use Fish Parts instead. I know that has an extra syllable, but it works for me - if I remember.

The SM-81 is my travel mic- for auditions mostly. Normally I use the Senn 416- Can't live without that one...

Connie,

My first acting teacher had us doing the "F" bomb in a monologue just to get us used to the idea of having to say what a character would say. I remember my first one, I was Rona from Longuyland, and it was all Fbomb her and Fbomb him and it was so fbombing liberating! Wink

He must be a pro to work the SM81 that close without a plosive.
I never had that kind of luck with talent on mine. <G>

Certainly never very far from it.

"Dood! You'll like TOTALLY never guess what a guy from an ad agency said to me during a voice over session."

"ACTUALLY I CAN because unless he was uniquely creative it would've been one of about a dozen completely vacuous statements."

My VO fee breakdown.

$ 10 per hour for doing it
$ 90 per hour for being able to do it
$200 per hour for the smile whilst saying "NO PROBLEM"
