I am in Hackintosh Hell... kernel panics every day, sometimes in the middle of EWABS. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I put one in the mixing PC. The OS and DAW are installed on it, and a few other a s as well. It's only 64GB so I have to watch space consumption.
All the audio data resides on a traditional HDD. For VO audio (or music for that matter) a good old HDD performs just fine. Both the SSD and HDD are backed up nightly to a Windows Home Server.
Performance of the OS and a s are crazy fast. I'm not going to say an SSD is a requirement, but for a $100 spend, it sure is convenient. |

Todd, I got it sorted over the week, no moments before EWABS went live! I went to Lion and found a great disc image on the bit torrents that made it go almost as easy as installing Lion on a real Apple computer. It's been rock solid ever since...
However, might be nice to have your "boy genius" info on hand, just in case.
Mine is a Core i3, 8GB RAM, Gigabyte P67A and 6850 graphix, plus additional Ethernet (on-board failed), Firewire, and USB PCI cards.
I cloned it back to my SSD and it just blows me away how fast this system feels compared to my wife's 3 year old iMac, also with 8GB RAM.
Next is to drop $200 on a Core i5 Quad processor, then I'll be satisfied for a few years. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
