Anyone ever do this successfully?
Client is using PT8 with an Mbox Mini.
We're using another device, a Griffin iMic to give Skype it's own audio device. It seems to work OK until Pro Tools launches, then we get this horrible tone audible on both sides.
Start listening to this audio only .mov file (from Call Recorder) for an example of the noise we're dealing with.
Never heard anything like it.

No, it isn't an audio feedback loop...

I've been doing that successfully George...for quite some time. Both in Win XP and now on Win 7. We can talk about it this weekend when we're faffing.

In short it involves two audio devices...and some bussing on the Mackie.

Start PT first, Then start Skype and DO NOT let Skype control the sound card. (In Options > Tools > Sound Devices -, do NOT check the boxes).

Once Skype is started, connect with someone, and hit Record in PT, see if you get incoming and outgoing audio. Record for a bit longer to see if the issue is gone, if not read the next paragraph.

Had a similar problem with EMU card, fixed it by using the Windows Sound Device in Skype, not the specific EMU settings.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for input, guys...
The iMic and Mbox are patched together, sans mixer (the Mbox is acting as the mixer). Everything works a treat until PT launches, then the noise starts. Quit PT, and the noise stops. It's not a feedback loop, either.
You gotta hear the audio I linked to for a better understanding of the problem...

slightly off topic but I am getting George in the left channel and the caller "faintly" in the right in the sample audio. Is anyone else experiencing this or do I have a problem in my setup??
