On your business cards...what do you call yourself?
Are you a voice actor, voice talent, voiceoverist, unnouncer, God's gift to the microphone, etc?
Or are you a voice with no designation? _________________ My full name is Karl Kuhlken (think Macauly Culkin...it rhymes)

Yes. All the above.
The question is not really how I see myself, but how each person sees themselves.
Who are you? What do you feel you can deliver to your customers? And, how do you think your customers see or think of you and your services? The answers to these and other similar questions are how your "brand" is being delivered and accepted by others. If the message is different than what you envision; it is time to revise your image and re-brand yourself if you are able.

That's why I asked this question. I am curious to see what each of you have on the cards. I don't know where I fit yet, I don't know what my brand is going to be or which direction I am heading - this is all being determined now. I am a different VO person than when I joined this board. I know a little more of what I am doing and am enjoying the process.
My strength right now, as I see it: I give good phone. I do "announcer" stuff well. Character/conversation? I'm improving.
Listening to your demos (all y'alls) has been enlightening and I am figuring where I need to work.
I just want to put a name to what it is you do... _________________ My full name is Karl Kuhlken (think Macauly Culkin...it rhymes)

Karl,
I call myself "Professional story-teller". That's for 2 reasons: a.) My "style" as a narrator is a storyteller style and b.) because I don't want to use a term that's used by nearly everyone else doing voiceovers. _________________ Be well,

Using Bob's idea (he defines WHAT he is) most people in our line of work should use the title "Organic Anaesthetic". |

+1 to Phillip!
My business cards are simple; they simply contain my name and my trademarked brand - "The Voice" tm
Bob has defined who he is and what he does based upon his clients and style. Great branding Bob!
Have fun with your pocket billboard..

my advice---keep it simple. There are only so many ways to skin a cat, as they say.....
Telling people what we do can be confusing enough (to them) without
making it even more vague and esoteric. I say keep it simple, cause it really is pretty simple IMO.
I'm referring mainly to what we tell them in a conversation.
The design on my cards can be a little confusing to some one who has no prior idea of what I do. |
