Than you Jason

Bristol TN/VA the birth place of Country Music. I have been by the places you mention, originally the Washington District, also where the purposed and short lived state of Franklin was.

Folk where my family and Jason’s family are from is, were the Over the Mountain Men were from. They marched south out of VA, NC to Kings Mountain. SC and beat Major Ferguson of the British Army*. By all accounts the turning point in that disagreeable war with King Georges crew.

Many of the Moon Shine runners in the 40’s were involved in building up stock car racing. Daddy Lee use to buy from my Daddy who also was a runner and manufacture.

* This is just a recounting of history. At the time of the Kings Mountain Battle the folk in this part of the world were Scott, Irish and English. Me I am Gambill/Holloway couldn’t more English.

Yes Sir, Back in the day great granpaw had a sawmill on the Holston river.
And I know mom said there was some connection of my grandad to shady valley, supposedly some goin's on back in there somewhere back then.

It seems like (from what I can gather) My familial name comes from the McLauren's of scotts descent, but it seemed great granpaw was lonely and so he traded some mules and blankets to the Cherokee for a bride that desired assimilation, and so they got hitched.

Then there's 1st nations descent on my dad's side too. So I'm mixed in with that and there is dutch ties in there somewhere a bit too. Anyhow stay in touch, here or on a personal level. I'd love to see you sometime if I'm traveling abouts down there.
