You are really a knowledgeable bunch. I've been combing through the archives, doing some research. I don't post much because I haven't much to contribute at this point, but it's very nice to be part of this board.

It's fascinating to see the amount of knowledge gathered in one place from the diverse backgrounds that everyone has. Welcome Kim! _________________ Any project, any size, I can help.

Heck, this group has forgotten more than I'll ever know.
Wait....uh.... This group knows more than I could ever forget.
No, that's not quite right. mmm... It takes one to know ...
Aha! One for all and all for one! That's not the phrase I had in mind but it'll do.

Hi Kim. I also went from lurker to joiner to occasional poster to sneaky voyeur. Much value to be gained here. Welcome, from a newbie. _________________ www.grantcyster.com

Thanks, all! My husband (Ulf) and I ventured into VO last year, inspired by some words from Scott Pollak.
We discovered a couple of things. 1) I should not go near it without further training and 2) he's pretty good .
He's also a member here and has posted once or twice, but I have a greater affinity for message boards and online research. I comb through the info online, make notes of useful info and where to find it (gear, techniques, finding work, etc), keep the books, do some of the contact work. He does the VO and narration and the followup. Right now he's buried under an E-learning course and has 3 children's books to narrate when he's done, so he only comes out of his studio for food and bathroom breaks.
While I work full-time elsewhere and provide the health insurance, the hope is that eventually he'll be at a point where I can cut back and take time to get some training, and be a voice actor, too, if I find I'm able.
So -that's the story of us. Nice to be here!

It's so exciting chasing down a dream and making it our beeyach! *hehe* Creating something that draws on our inherent giftings and talent is one of life's true blessings. Best of luck to you! _________________ www.grantcyster.com

Du är mycket välkommen. Jag hoppas att du hittar mycket guld i arkiven.

Plenty of gold in this archive, and I'm finding some of it, yes
My Swedish is extremely rusty - I lived there for 6 years but haven't spoken it for years now - I can understand it when I hear it and read it - but forming my own sentences with accuracy is another thing.
When I last visited the country, I was nearly fluent for the first 2 days. Then the jet lag wore off and the inhibitions came back, and I started stumbling with the vocabulary again. Nothing like being too tired to care if you make mistakes... |

I've heard some of Kim's husband (Ulf's) work, but I don't recall having heard Kim's. Ulf has a ton of great talent and they both have the most wonderful attitude. Do yourself a favor and get to know them. Salt 'o' the earth, they are! _________________ Scott R. Pollak
