Ohai!
This is actually more for Jacob to scrutinize more closely, as I know he has experience with Swedish. This is a very early cut of some stuff I put together. Call it a faux commercial demo for practice purposes. Feel free to listen and give feedback on any aspect you feel the urge to comment on, even if you can't understand a word. There are few spots, as I aimed at creating full stories to start with, instead of having snappy and fast cuts. Sweden works differently than Americat.
Still need to figure out how to make it sound like "DOOD! That second thing sounded like it was recorded on an Australian beach. Completely different from the other ones and sweet acoustics too, bro!"

Note: This is not something I will use as a marketing tool. Yet. Going to put more work into it and probably re-record some stuff. |

My Swedish is very limited...well actually none except for critical phrases like, En kall öl tack, and Kan jag få lite mer lingon till mina pannkakor, tack?, but the demo feels quite good to me.
I'd just say make the end music resolve more nicely instead of cutting off. A nice short, smooth fade to 0, or if you have the music let the musical sting finish. But then you said this was a rough cut, didn't you? Never mind.

First of all, Bruce, cheers for your response.
Regarding the ending: It seems like I missed to do that the second time. I had bounced it prior, with a proper fade-out, but was unhappy with some levels and editing. Seems that one slipped from my view when finishing it up the second time.
To list the spots for you:
BRIS - A non-profit organization that has been running ads (alongside sister organization Friends) against bullying and child abuse. The tone of their ads have always been fairly solemn.
- Tag for Modern Warfare 3. I got the idea for all the Gamespot commercials circulating around there. The biggest publishers definitely have the same type of marketing in Scandinavia.
- Beer radio ad for Norrlands Guld (Northern Gold). Since northerners fit a specific stereotype, and I'm from that region, it felt pretty natural to voice a 'raggare,' or 'greaser' as they are called here.
- Humorous spot for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Huge marketing has been done for this, and I've seen more than one have almost self-deprecating styles. This one and the first do sound fairly similar to my ears.
Gonna keep working on more. It's creative and fun! |
