Stop it now. This is not allowed. There can be no such thing as a definitive answer in the Gear section. This section is here for the sole purpose of confusing people, making them dissatisfied with what they have and feeding GAS.
I'm relatively immune to VO GAS as I have built up a small resistance from previous exposures (motorcycles, cameras, computers, radio-controlled crap etc.) but when asked by those that care... "how much do you think you've spent" I still tend to reduce the figure by an order of magnitude (and still get a sideways look!)
Oh look... over there... a bargain MKH416... oooh pretty _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Well, I _suppose_ I can live without buying any new gear.
Seriously, the M3 sounds pretty good to me and I can live with it.
Although, I have a new excuse on the horizon. My 7-year old daughter has twice now insisted I set everything up so she can record herself reading a book. She's doing it just now, and she interrupted me to ask for headphones. _________________ Steve Duncan

Sony MDR-7506... industry standard. Add some Hello Kitty stickers and you're golden _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

She's wearing my MDR-V6's now. I bought a pair of HD201's and somehow they migrated to my new recording space in the basement while the good phones stayed up here.
Believe it or not, she's now listening to her recording. She's has asked me how to cut out her mistakes.
I'd originally sat down to review recordings to make a narration demo when she sidetracked me into her audio book project.
One of the wonderful things about kids is they want to follow in your footsteps. One of the irritating things about kids is that they often want to follow in your footsteps while you're still in them _________________ Steve Duncan

Don't rub it in. My new/vintage 415 arrived Friday.... Which meant a trip to GC/SamAsh for a new shockmount and some Mogami.
When nobody else bid, I just had to.... I swear. I couldn't help it.
It's NOT my fault.

The M3 is a terrific allround mic. Wasn't built specificly for VO, but neither was a shotgun mic.
Your M3 is better than what many others are using. _________________ Regards,

I've seen some vids of M3s being worked in radio/studio situations and honestly rather preferred it over the RE20. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover
