OK, LOVE my 0404, but alas the Win 7 Beta driver is beyond useless and rolling it back is not any better.
So, what should I get? I would prefer an internal card, only because things are cluttered as it is. I also play a fair amount of music so I need MIDI connections and at least 2 audio in and out.
I have a custom built PC with with 7.
Any suggestions? |

Boy, we've covered this one a lot, haven't we?
Get the Echo Mia, you'll be very happy with the sound and price. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

OK, guys, thanks for the recommendation. Card installed all appears well, however mic gain sucks big time. The rest of the equipment is the same and the gain on the pre-amp has not changed. The wave forms are about 50-7-% smaller, even with everything cranked up.
Any ideas?

Got the audio problem taken care of, but have problem with the MIDI. Sound is tinny and harsh. Any Echo Mia owners out there?
Thanks. _________________ Ulf Bjorklund

I don't use the midi so I can't comment on that part. I do use a Mackie with the main out to the echo mia in and it sounds pretty good. I use an RE-20 so I need a good amount of gain but it's pretty clean at about 75% gain (meaning I have the gain pot at about the 3 o'clock position) and the level pot at about the same position. I peak out at about -7db with the echo console settings at +4 on the mic input and main output with the levels maxed on each. For my situation, i have the echo mia analog outs feeding into the 7/8 input on the Mackie for playback.
I run a couple of outboard devices but what I've described is just the mic into the board and into the echo mia. Adobe Audition meters read -7 peaks with that configuration. _________________ Does life start at 40? |

Hi Ulf!
Are you saying that instruments you play via MIDI sound harsh and tinny? Are any other non-midi sounds within your software sounding weird? It's not going to be a problem with MIDI itself since MIDI is just data (1's and 0's). That data then triggers a sound inside your computers software. As long as you are able to record MIDI notes into your software then the "sound" problem is exclusive to your outbound audio chain. Could be your drivers, DAW (pro tools, Adobe Audition, etc), your speaker monitors or headphones, etc. _________________ http://jordanreynolds.com |

Thanks for the responses. Turns out the newest drivers did not install correctly the first time, but all set after reboot. Still trying to figure out the 'virtual' ins and outs, although don't need them at this point. _________________ Ulf Bjorklund

For $150 you can't seem to go too wrong, but does anyone know if the Echo Mia works with Windows 7? All the reviews I've found talk about it working with Vista or XP. _________________ Joni Lambert
