hi, folks.
testing the waters here before i take a deep breath and dive into writing an ad on ebay.
am slowly running out of alternatives to selling off two prized ribbon mics in my studio, named above. both in fine working order and both looked over by tech experts in the past few years.
the dx is the brown matte version originally meant for tv.
i've scouted going prices online and found quite a range. if interested, let me know.
if i do have to sell them, i'd rather "keep them in the family". _________________ rowell gormon

Spent many wonderful hours speaking into a 77DX in the early seventies and fell in love with it.
Also, Rowell, I have a colleague here at the station that collects vintage mics.
Can I have him contact you or you contact him? Whatever works best for you. _________________ Roger Tremaine

i have a 77dx in chrome - and if i had the expendable income i'd snatch up the 44 in a second - but --- i don't. the local npr station has one on a GIANT boom with an awesome counter-weight i've been trying (off & on) to buy for years. they're probably waiting for a grad student to steal it. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

yes, roger. inquiries from friends of friends count just the same.
and todd, i know how you feel. there were two 44s at my first full-time station gig which i resisted the urge to steal. and a friend at a local station here let me borrow one for a theatrical show some years ago. in both cases, when i called later to ask about buying it, i was told they were stolen. a little voice in the back of my head kept saying, "that's what YOU get for being HONEST." _________________ rowell gormon

ahh, but you can't purchase a clear conscience, right?
unless, of course, you're in the general D.C. area, in which case, it appears you can. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

No Todd, they just have their consciences removed before entering the vicinity. I think it's called a whome?ectomy or maybe it's a NIMBYectomy and it's usually performed rectally. _________________ Pam Tierney
