I just finished Edge Studios Intensive Technique and Evaluation Workshop.
WOW so many things to learn. Especially the fact that I can't do this myself and need professional training to truly succeed. Here's my dilema..Should I....
A) Save up enough money for the package I want to do at Edge at 1500.00
B)Shop around for another reputable teacher
C)Take the training at Edge in smaller chunks at a more manageable rate each time.
As a side note I really enjoyed and learned a lot from this workshop. It's my opinion that Edge Studio really knows their stuff. |

What do you get for $1500? Would you have to go to CT/NY or could you do it by telephone? Edge does have an excellent reputation.
You should be able to get excellent training and record a demo for under $1000. Perhaps well under that. Might want to shop around. |

Get out yer credit card and get the Edge training now.
You earn from what you learn.
Just my 2c worth, on $1500 worth.
(Speaking from experience and having seen a couple of other voice over schools' techniques as well as Edge's, Edge are far and away the best. ) |

I received training and demo production from Edge Studios. My package included the scripts, 3 or 4 telephone coachings/training sessions, and production of 2 demos (which in itself was a tremendous learning experience) for about $900 give or take (this was almost 2 years ago).
I don't regret it at all and I think I made a great choice. I've gotten some great compliments (from other trainers and producers) about the production quality, spot layout, and script selection on the demos. You can hear them at www.fmvoiceovers.com. I also plan on taking some more of their workshops in the future.
http://www.edgestudio.com has demos as well, but I don't know if it lists which ones were produced there or not.
Hope that helps!

BBean,
I think Edge Studio is a great choice and I enjoyed very much working with them. They know what they are doing. That said, I do believe that shopping around is a good idea and studying with different coaches is very beneficial anyway. I learned a lot from Tom Richards and ended up having him direct and cut the demo.
Best,

One of the things in my commercial demo is something incidental I said to Tommy during a session. Once in a while, he keeps the recording going and we ended up with an accidental gem.
Tom Terrific is one of those guys who can make you better than you are. I don't mean make you SOUND better than you are, I mean working with Tom makes you a better artist. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Hey, I should check this out more often!
Many thanks for the kind words above, but it's a two-way street:
Deirdre's a fearless voice talent with a voice that I love...
Bernard works his ass off and it shows...
and Drew has more soul than even HE knows.
Like my friend David says: "When you work with 'pros,' you get poetry!"
Do we have a great job, or what??
Best,
Tom |
