Today's entry for Voice Over Direction Of The Year:

Have at it.

Sounds like they want a deadpan delivery a'la Bill Murray, or Agent Archer from the eponymous animated series

I was thinking maybe Steven Wright, though it does point out the difference (in my mind anyway) between fun and funny!

Flat Stanley is more synonymous with "pain in the butt" in my experience, but maybe I was just being a humbug. Rolls Eyes

It's like what I tell my hairdresser whenever I come in for a 'do. "Cut it, but keep the length. A little curly, but mostly straight. Sort of a retro look that looks very modern and contemporary." Like that.

The word that should be employed for that direction is "wry". I hate directors who have cultivated a limited vocabulary.

A director who can't communicate? Hmmmmmm....

Either....

A) Shouldn't BE a director

or

cool Isn't really a director at all.

Yes to both A and B.

Then there's the inevitable

C) justifying their existence by giving "direction".

Heh. Now I'm looking forward to somebody asking for "can you be flat and flat sounding?"

I did a sesh for a financial corp last week. They were struggling to come up with the right words to direct me. So, I did an improvised take imaging I was a totally over- confident jerk. Like, right out of a typical '80s flick.

We loved that last one, Lance!
