July 17 may not be a special date for many of you (except Craig & Monk because it's their birthday), but it's a red letter day on my calendar. Why? Because today is the beginning of a new season of History Detectives on PBS. And one reason I know this is, for the past several weeks I have been hearing the promo for the season premier episode, voiced by our own Bob Souer.
I enjoy watching the show from start to finish, but once each episode ends, the icing on the cake is hearing Bob say "On the next History Detectives ..."
But wait, there's more! A couple of weeks ago I was driving along, listening to the ballgame, when a commercial came on the radio for my former employer, the Connecticut Lottery. And whose voice was that UN-nouncing the tag? None other than Doug Turkel.
After so many years in local radio and TV it's no big deal for me to hear my on voice or even those of my local broadcasting friends, but to hear one of my VO-BB brethren (or sistren) is way cool. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

So cool of you to notice, Lee...thanks!
Its not likely that I'll get the chance to hear my CT Lottery spot down here in Miami, but you know I'm gonna listen for Bob on PBS! _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

As it turns out, I have a very minor personal connection with one of the stories from last night's History Detectives episode. It was an all rock 'n roll show and one of the stories concerned a pair of autographs purportedly obtained from the Beatles when they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show from the Dauville Hotel in Miami. My grandparents were in the audience at that show. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
