Yesterday was an "I can't keep on like this" day so I decided I needed to actually DO something.

6th Sept I get on a flight to Amsterdam and from Amsterdam another flight will take me to Beijing.

My hotel room has a view of the Forbidden City.

At some point I will travel to the Great Wall of China and take a photo of it and ME on it.

9th September I'll travel home having actually done something.

Positiveness has made me realise that, to a degree, I was paying for my job with my life. Wrong my job pays for my life.

I need to see where I am responsible and acknowledge that I am not to blame.

Whilst I live by the rule "What do live for if not to make life less difficult for others" this does not make it ok for others to screw up and then expect me to pick the tab.

The world needs more superheros, you're one, pick your name and step up to the plate.

There's a spiritual message in the following, delivered crudely. This video may not capture your predicament, but at least you can get some enjoyment from Tom Hardy's lovely impressionis of Charlie Bronson.

Madness would be to have the yearning and the wherewithal and not act upon it. Enjoy the adventure!

Philip, I can hear you saying that last line of your post in my imagination, and I find it an inspirational thing. "Get busy living, or get busy dying." Good for you for living the adventure! I look forward to your photos.

That's a good reminder for us all: get out of the studio and live, even if it occasionally means missing an audition or phone call. Work to live, not the other way around.

The trip sounds exciting.

What's the flight time from Scotland to Beijing? For us in the US, leaving on the 6th, returning the 9th, would leave maybe an hour on the ground.

Leave Aberdeen at 1.30pm local time on the 6th, Amsterdam 5.35pm local and arrive Beijing 9am the following morning. Have two full days and a morning for the adventure so plenty of time to visit the wall and the Forbidden City.

If you were pressed for time you could get some Chinese take-away and go to Hadrian's Wall. Shocked

I have a simple philosophy. Avoid the "What if's"

"What if" I had tried.

"What if" I had asked.

"What if" I had visited...

I try, I ask, I go visit. What on earth are you on this planet for otherwise? To watch more TV?

I doubt it.

Years ago I got rid of the TV as I wondered "What if" I did something else at night...

I read this quote from an article Bob Souer referenced in his blog yesterday, and I thought it might fit well here.

Feelings follow actions. So make a choice.
Commit irrevocably. Take action.
Passion will explode like a flame, giving you energy and lighting your way.
Congratulations! You’re about to embark on an adventure called Life.
Roy Williams

Here's the link to the article if you're interested.

All this week I've dreamed of going to England to see the Olympics. Just hopping on a plane and going. Perhaps a bit more planning would be in order, but y'all are right. This life is an adventure, and we should live it as such.
