Hey all!
I'm pretty much a power user of SF, but just had a question come up that I've never had to deal with.

Is there any way to view the waveform AS you are recording?

It has never been an issue for me as I just record & deal with the wavefoem after I stop the session.
But I have a client that will be connecting remotely to my screen since he wants his engineer to watch the waveform remotely as I record.

(No, he doesn't have ISDN Wink )

Any help would be appreciated!

That is the arseiest request made by a client I have ever heard! The answer is no there isn't a way or if there is I've never found it. By checking the monitor box in the record window he can monitor the VU meters but that's about it.

Liz, if the client wants to see your desktop and the waveform as it transpires the only option you have is to change editors. Audition, Audacity, Reaper, etc. are candidates for this option.

Good luck.

George made me laff!
Actually it's a good client of mine who I usually go on-site to record for. Bit since the move upstate, they are three hours away...to they are being really cool about my recording on my studio with their engineer listening in. It was actually a way for me not to have to worry about the audio. I'll be sending them the raw audio, no editing on my part needed. Did I mention it was a 2 day session? Smile

Liz,

...actually - Google "remote desktop monitoring" and take a look at some of those results. Two that come to top of mind are RealVNC and LetMeIn. However, I know those from my ole' IT days, so I don't know how much of a drain they'd put on system resources whilst recording - but it'd be worth a shot. At least one of the versions of VNC is free, so that would be the best one to start with. Smile

Of course, my first thought was Source Connect - but it's not compatible with SF, so that kinda shoots that idea in the foot...

Good luck!
-Mike

Actually, SourceConnect can run as a standalone application, so *could* work, but it would usually mean the client at the other end is recording remotely. Doesn't have to operate that way, though. Would also require both you and the client owing at least the "lite" version of SourceConnect, which is a relatively expensive solution to your problem.

George, please correct me if I'm wrong on this!
