Hey Everyone,

Sorry for not being on board for ever and a day. Life has been crazy for a long while.

Part of my craziness is a recent move. We found a nice house on several acres...pool, a pond with a fire pit near by and woods....we love it. However, I am regretting moving at this point because I was told I could get ISDN installed at the new house and now I am being told NO DICE after getting the run around ever since moving in. I am depressed and worried because of this new problem.

Please, someone talk me off the ledge. I called Ednet in LA for some assistance and they were nice enough to check into things for me to see if there was anything they could do.

Has anyone here gotten the push back initially from the telco and then escalated the issue and was then able to get ISDN installed?

Anyone here successfully doing the bridge thing with Source Connect on a regular basis. I really don't want to go this route.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

If you haven't already I would go straight to calling Dave Immer at Digifon, he seems to have the magic touch as far as dealing with telcos...he got me up and running in short order - I'd imagine he can get you set up as well...Good luck!

Yeah, I would get in touch with Dave Immer.

The first solution is definitely to go to Dave Immer as Chris and Liz have suggested - often you run into someone at a telco who would rather just say "no" than deal with what they perceive as a complicated, "pain in the a**" order.

Second solution if isdn really isn't possible - George Whitham has solved this problem with several other high profile voice actors by setting up a dedicated SourceConnect bridge - nice solution and transparent to your clients. You should call George to get more details.

Ben,

I'm sorry for my late reply. Congrats on the house! Sounds amazing.

Your situation is almost identical to mine. Only difference is, I was working with Dave Immer to secure the line at the new home and the telco went back on their word and told us it was a no go, after we had already closed. My next call was to EdNet, who pushed things through and got them to commit. Granted, the quote included a repeater install, which put it at over $350/mo. Then, they downsized the quote, realizing that the repeater wasn't needed after all. The quote went down to $95/mo. Got the line installed and the bills started coming in at $170 a month, which Ednet tried to investigate but were told by AT&T that the price ended up being higher than they expected (duh). It's continued to go up since then. I am now paying $265 plus a $50 monthly fee to EdNet. But the line works, even in this rural area.

So long story short, all hope is not lost. If I were doing it again, I'd try to secure the line myself, and if that didn't work, call Dave Immer, then call EdNet as a hail mary last-ditch effort. They really have some sort of clout. That being said, it's been really nice to just call them up when there's a line issue and make them deal with the telco, instead of waiting on hold for hours.

Keep us posted!

Immer is $180/hr and worth every penny. REALLY need ISDN? Don't screw around... EdNet in a pinch, but like Dave more.
