Has anybody heard of this? http://www.commonroom.com/
Supposedly an internet within an internet, a by-invitation-only world of safety within the maelstrom. I never heard of it before today. I got an invitation to join and really have no idea what it means. The invitation was not from someone I know, although upon googling I found impressive credentials - all the more reason to be completely mystified why this invitation is coming to me. Maybe this is just the day for mass mailings.
Opportunities to network for free are certainly welcome but... |

Mary,
At a quick glance I'd say it looks like an attempt at a somewhat more high scale version of My Space. _________________ Be well,

I got a time share for that thing - if you want to buy it you'll have to sit with me for about an hour or two while I make a presentation
Never heard of it - but let me know if it works for you.
Gmail was invitation only as well at some point... if you know what I mean. It was a great marketing launch.

Orkut was a real hotshot gated community of the intarwebz for a while--
It's a thing Google was/is trying out.
It was a worldwide phenom when I first saw it, but now it's mostly Brazilians-- go figure.
The Common Room seems geared toward Academic types, yes?
Wasn't Friendster like that?. An invitation-only inner-internet? _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Well it's a sure bet I'll never be invited if it's for Academic types. Although I was in MENSA. I shared a membership with five other people. <rimshot> |
