I know twisted wave has been out, and has been a great answer for iPad recording...but this blows it away.

Check out WaveMachine labs Auria a . Expensive yes...but for on the road iPad recordings, this gets extremely close to having your home computer on the iPad!
The only question I have is export capability.
Anyone used this one? |

Damn. Hard to believe the iPad memory could play back all those tracks. I'd love to see it import a medium-sized Pro Tools session...they say it's capable.
Looks to me like it records WAV; imports WAV, AIF, MP3 and AAF; and exports AAF. I've looked for any indication that it won't export MP3 and I can't find a trace. That usually means it won't.
Pretty amazing. Thanks!

You can export Mp3 in MIXDOWN to Dropbox
this is a serious DAW...very ProTools like.. for $50 it's worth it alone for the PSP plug-in suite...
the waveform editing isn't as streamlined as Twisted Wave..
it still remains a PITA to get audio out of an iPad |

Can anyone recommend a sound interface for the i-pad? Actually I'm not so much interested in getting sound IN, more a case of getting the output of Spotify to my Benchmark DAC, so it would need some kind of digital output. _________________ Colin Day - UK Voiceover

If you can listen to it, you can record it...just takes the right cable. That would probably be theft though if you are talking about pirating music from an a that doesn't allow download for a reason. Just sayin. |

Not my intention. Just want to listen to my music from the ipad without using the crappy headphone out... _________________ Colin Day - UK Voiceover

Frack!
Just another argument for a die-hard Android user like me to switch to the dark side. _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton

George: returning to the original topic, what's your opinion of Auria? Have you had a chance to try it out?

Thanx for the links, George....
The video on that last link makes me think.....
Now that Android 4.0 and above support both USB host mode and USB audio.....
And given that USB host mode requires a "native" USB device....
Has anyone tried the USBpre2 (which is the only I/O I know of that's native USB) with this method? Would love to get my hands on one to try.... _________________ Don Brookshire

Colin, this may or not be what you're looking for but it looks like a good companion for the Auria software.

I think J.S. Gilbert posted about this already somewhere. _________________ "Be grateful, be happy, work a little harder." |
