This past June at APAC, I had the good fortune to sit next to a couple of very nice ladies from Austin, TX. When I told them I'm from St Louis, they said, "Oh, you must LOVE having the National Audio Theatre Festival in your backyard.
Never heard of it. But it was happening in just two weeks in the small Ozark town of West Plains, MO, and several of my heroes were presenting -
Barbara Rosenblat and Robin Miles of audiobook fame, and David Ossman and Phil Proctor of Firesign Theatre - so I moved heaven and earth to spend the week immersed in audio theatre.
Best week ever. Which is why I'm telling all y'all, dear voiceoverists, to start making plans now to attend the new and improved
Hear Now Festival - http://www.hearnowfestival.org/
June 20-23 2013 in Kansas City! You'll miss the four hour drive from the airport to the Ozarks, but there will be plenty to learn and immense fun to be had. _________________ Dangerous.

I know those two lovely ladies. They mentioned it to me as well. _________________ Elaine

And they weren't at this year's event, so I didn't get to thank them in person, but my oh my it was rich. I think there were only 55 attendees, so everybody got to know everybody else, and learn and share all kinds of goodies. I remember one particularly fun class in live SFX from Sue Zizza and David Shinn of Suemedia. Priceless. _________________ Dangerous.
