The pluggy bit on the end of my 416 is a bit wobbly, and has caused its sound to suffer greatly. Where should I send it for healing? _________________ Dangerous.

Yep, send it to Sennheiser repair. From my experience they were not swift (3 weeks), but it was only $90 to replace some electronic doohickey inside.

I've been procrastinating about sending it to Sennheiser, because I knew it would take a bit of time and I hoped I could find a guru in the neighborhood. And the backup akg was actually sounding pretty good. Then it wasn't. Now it's some months later and I am mic-less (unless you count half a dozen sm-58s and I don't intend to belt out 4 audiobooks on them). All the gratitude in the world to the Magic Pinto for letting me try her SM7B but I don't have enough preamp to drive it.
If you can't be a role model, at least be a cautionary tale. _________________ Dangerous.

Donna,
At the moment, my 416 is in CT getting the official treatment or at least it will be once the offices open again following Sandy. Christopher Currier there is the guy you want to contact. He'll get you a loaner mic to use while your's is in the shop. You won't pay anything but shipping unless you don't return their mic when you get your own back. _________________ Be well,

Bob,
That is very good to know. Thank you! I will get in touch with Christopher once Connecticut is put back in place. It's really good to know they can provide a loaner. _________________ Dangerous.
