In Israel there are 8 million Presidents all driving cabs. A well known writer Iraeli was in the back of a cab and the chat turned to the "Arab Problem".
"We should kill all the Arabs, sir" said the driver. Rather than the usual dismissive comment most people would make the writer decided to do some digging.
"We should? We who? Be specific. The Army, Police, Secret Police, Fire Service, doctors or nurses in special hospitals using injections? Who should kill all the Arabs? The people?"
"Yes sir, the people" replied the driver "we should all kill a few".
"So if you were allocated an apartment building in Shuafat and given a gun with ammunition you would do this?"
"Sure, I'd play my part, sir" said the driver.
"You visit each apartment in the building, knock on the door and when it is answered you ask if the family are Arabs then shoot every member dead if they say yes?"
"That would be my duty, sir " nodded the Driver.
The writer thought for a moment.
"Duty done you are returning to your Taxi and from the 3rd floor of the apartment building you hear a baby crying. Do you drive away or do you go back into the building and shoot the baby?"
"You Sir" said the Cab Driver " are a very cruel man" |

i'm not sure i quite understand either. is the moral of the story:
"cruelty only goes so far - we can change"
or
"make sure you finish the job so you don't have to climb the stairs again"? _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

It's an account of an event that really took place and I saw it as a "pause for a thought". People take away from it what ever they like which could be nothing. |

Logically, the driver had stated that he killed "every" member of every Arab family that lived in the building. In doing so, he felt justified in his hatred for Arabs. He was appalled at the suggestion of killing a baby, because the baby was not an Arab. _________________ "Bailey"
