I dunno - it's NYC, where a f***in' HOT DOG can cost ten bucks so to get into an event for that is not totally abhorrent to me...what if I brought $10 worth of non-perishables....hrm. Nah I am cool with that. Tho I did have a nice plate of halal lamb n rice prior to last year's mixer for 8 bucks. _________________ Chris Mezzolesta, Voice Talent

Erik and Lindsay work their butts off putting this together - and they've never charged a fee to compensate them for the time and headaches involved. And they're STILL not charging a fee for themselves. It's a donation to the Don LaFontaine VO Lab.
It's hard to imagine anyone having a problem with it - Hopefully anyone with the nerve to complain will be so annoyed they'll just stay away. |

I'd have to think that anyone that would have a problem would be a newbie to the event who doesn't know Erik & Lindsay. IMO anyone that has a problem & stays away, their loss. I'm happy to drive the 12 hours to be able to make this event. Ten bucks is nothing. _________________ Chris Mezzolesta, Voice Talent

There are some people who are coming from quite a way away... even flying transatlantic! A lot of people are laying out for weekend city accommodation. For many, this weekend will cost a healthy four-figure sum. Admittedly, it's not all about the mixer... the event is just the hub for what everyone hopes will be a great weekend of fun with VO friends... and maybe turning some virtual ones into real ones.
To have $10 as an issue seems churlish in the extreme.
Now Mel, I really need a new pair of snakeskin boots for this and I may need some help _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

I'd happily pay $127.35 door fee for Erik and LindZ to spend on riotous living AND buy the PB snakeskin boots (Spurs not supplied) |

I would so love to come to this event, but it's not happenin' right now so I have never seriously looked into it. I honestly can't believe that they haven't charged admission to cover their costs! That's a shock. I'd've thought it was at least $25 at the bare minimum.
It's clearly an event that VOs value and I'd think that if they want to charge a cover in future to keep it feasible, they ought not to hesitate to do so!
Whiners should be politely excused from the obligation (and the guest list). _________________ jen@jengosnell.com

Okay, so leave it to me to have my first VO-BB post be asking about pre and post-Mixer festivities. (Hope I've got the etiquette down correctly.) Last year, I let my friend Zak's cousin mother me right back to my hotel and missed out on the fun afterwards since she terrified me about being in the city alone...NOT going to let that one happen again. Please keep me in the loop-de-loop of plans. This Georgia girl is dyin' for some big-city VO fun! Can't wait to catch up with those of you I know and meet those of you I don't. |

Kelley, some suppositions based upon previous years are already in this thread...there will be a lot of us you know from here and elsewhere so somebody should have "le 411" by the time it's upon us. I found it was helpful to gravitate to a familiar face or name, and be a part of the growing crowd! I only did the first post-hang last year (and really couldn't post-hang in '10 cause I left my wallet on Long Island - dummmmmmmb) but this year I am hoping to be part of multiple hangs over the course of the 36 or so hours!! _________________ Chris Mezzolesta, Voice Talent

As part of last year's after-after-after party festivities (I consider Trish & I having a hot dog in Times Square at 5AM the third after-party) I'm majorly pumped for the mixer!
Yes, we'll all do dinner on Friday night. Lots of great places in Chelsea!
Lunch at Mustang Harry's for three years in a row is a capital idea! When's a good time for everybody?
There are a ton of places on 21st Street to hang out at afterwards, including Taj Lounge next door, Duvet, and Bounce. BTW Duvet and Bounce are open until 4AM!
Brunch on Sunday? That implies that I will be conscious at that time of day... _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!
