Caught this WSJ article on two VOs who have mixed emotions on the election being over:

Quote:
A popular voice-over actor working steadily during a presidential year can earn up to $125,000 on political ads alone.

Is that for 3... 4... 5... 6 months work?

I didn't work on a Presidential race, but I did my first spots for this year's cycle more than a year ago and it slowly built to a crescendo in August through October. The early stuff being for primaries primarily, is people of the same party bashing each other. Fun, huh?

While I didn't make the kind of money mentioned in the article, it did allow me to buy better kinds tea and biscuits.

Once again, an article appears that quotes the high-end dollar figure for the handful of top-of-the-field voiceoverists and mentions, in passing, that there are lower-paid gigs. But they never seem to delve into how low the low end can be. While many, if not most, readers will come away knowing that a VO for a nationally-run TV ad for a presidential candidate can pay three to four grand, they really aren't told that those spots for the local candidate for mayor, selectman or dogcatcher often pay in the $50-125 range -- assuming the campaign pays its bills at all.

I found myself thinking the same thing, Lee.

With a couple of exceptions, I basically dealt with the PAC's, and I found them to be a lot like the government itself. When you don't have to earn the money your spending, it flows pretty freely. And like Bruce, I didn't get in the six figure range, but I was able to fill my gas tank with name brand 89 octane!

I also found it interesting that at one point I was representing opposing parties in the same state. I felt like my values had been totally compromised. No, wait... I didn't feel that at all.

BTW, I just did a couple for Nova Scotia today. There's always an election with someone not liking someone else, somewhere.
