Hello everyone,
My name is Jeremi and I have decided to explore the VO path. I've always had an inner voice just waiting to get out. (I always wanted to do a voice for a sinister animated character Smile ).
The unfortunate side VO is entirely new to me, and I understand it’s a great undertaking to break into and to succeed. I’m up for the challenge to succeed and to joins the ranks of truly being called a voice talent.
Currently I reside in the South East (1.5 hr from Atlanta, GA, about a 1hr 40min from Charlotte, NC, and a 1hr form Greenville, SC.) and I was wondering if any had any recommendations for a VO coach within that region that someone has worked with.
I looking for a coach that I could possibly work with in person/one on one.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jeremi Tigue

One that I know personally in Atlanta who I'd recommend is September Day Carter (formerly September Day Leach).

As far as 'in-person', that's not really a necessity and will severely limit your options. MOST coaching is done via phone or Skype nowdays. You really don't need to sit in a room together, one-on-one with the technology available today. Don't limit your options by trying to get a purely 'in-person' voice coach.

Thanks, I will look into September Day Carter. I definitely don't want to limit my options, I guess some time I feel like if you deal with someone in person, you get more of a real response. However that won't be a make it or break it point for me if I couldn't deal with someone in person.

Also out of curiosity is there any type of VO get togethers for the East Coast? Not that I'm the best when it comes to intermingling but it would be great to talk to people in the field. Getting out from the PC on occasion is a good thing or so I'm told. Smile

Thanks
Jereni

Hi Jeremi,

I used Paul Armbruster and cannot recommend him highly enough to everyone. He was a total game changer for me, and I say in all honestly that I wouldn't be doing VO full time if it wasn't for his guidance. His contact information is: 404-313-5217 and paularmbruster@att.net.

When I decided it was time to pull the trigger on coaching, I called my former on-camera agent in Atlanta, The People Store, and they said to go to Paul.

I've heard good things about September and her husband Bob as well, but I haven't worked with her, so I can't speak from personal experience.

Best wishes Jeremi!

Smile Kelley

Especially for people who are trying to break through (or in or out) because of the way the market is now it is essential to aim high if you must look for a coach.

Whilst well intentioned, the majority Voiceoverists confuse friendship with ability. When taking on board what you are told, SPECIFICALLY - Y'know a testimonial.

"Were it not for Nancy I'd still be married" ...Ok, bad example.
