Looking at getting an RME Babyface, has anyone used the RME for VO?
If yes...thoughts on the Pre's. My objective is to have it in the studio, as well as travel with it and have that consistent sound as in matched Microphone and Pre-amp. I know the price is high, if it's worth it I would be willing to invest the $$ into the studio. The platform is the Mac!
P.S. This would be up against the Apogee Duet 2.
This guy thinks the RME is the Gold Standard http://youtu.be/VYFrzKGBXNQ _________________ -----

I picked the Duet 2. I loved the clarity and pristine conversion. |

Jason,
Just found out about the Focusrite Forte, oh no yet another choice. Also found out the Babyface uses the same exact Pre's as the Duet, so I still be in da decision mode.

Forte is on my Christmas wish list. Tried one recently with my 415t, and it sounded really nice. Noise floor almost non-existent. Clear and crisp. Stashing funds for GAS, as we speak.
In this class, I consider all three to be eminently qualified, as long as you don't need more than 2 inputs. Don't forget to check out the USBPre2, as well. A little bigger, but killer pres and converters. _________________ Don Brookshire

I probably would have picked the Forte over the Duet (had it been available). It has quite a bit more UI functionality. Digital audio is getting so clean now, it seems the quality gap is losing quick between bargain stuff and pro stuff. (Not that the $50 interface is equal to the $1000 interface, but it's getting closer). |

Installed it last night, wow what a box. It has a great sound, and makes the (my) mBox2 sound a tad muffled, great sound with rich base, smooth midrange, and highs that sound crystal Clear. The pre is perfect, sounds much more clear and more transparent than my WA12. Best part, works on both of the W7 and OSX Systems.
Street and eBay price $ 750 paid $ 650 brand new from a factory reseller. If you are considering an Apogee Duet...investigate this one. _________________ -----
