No experience, but I'm interested! $80 with free shipping seems pretty good on my "perceived value" scale, and may be worth a speculative investment. I'd be interested in knowing the quality of the castors for scooting around on a carpeted floor. My standard manager's chair binds a bit and has dumped me on the floor once (luckily, no witnesses and pride remained intact). _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

I'd have a hard time staying in a consistent position while narrating, but it does look interesting! Prolly comfy. |

corey and bish ... you could always try a regular ole yoga ball that retails for $20 or less, find a way to set it into something (bricks, maybe? bags of flour? hell i dunno) for stability, and sit on it for awhile to determine likability.
just yesterday i dumped one of these at goodwill. i picked it up curbside during neighborhood cleanup several years ago, used it a lot, then decided it's too low and not workable in my current crap space

I'd have to disagree with the "quiet" part. I have one for my regular desk and adore it, but the sucker squeaks constantly.
If you do want to try one for non-recording times, though, even the plain ones are pretty cool - most have sand in them so they don't really roll away from you.
Diane, I wish I'd known about your Balans chair! I've been watching eBay for one for about 6 months now and they're all out of my price range. _________________ Kendra Hoffman

The potential squeak of skin on rubber would force me to get dressed before sitting on it. Deal breaker. _________________ Jeff

i KNEW it, kendra! i didn't know that type of chair had a name, but i know it's beloved by some ... and that i should have tried to sell it so that someone looking for the balans would have scored. now i can only hope that's the case when it turns up at one of the DIs (deseret industry thrift stores ... the lds version of salvation army). maybe i can track it down and send it to you .... and i would, you know! _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Ewwww! That image is just plain nasty.
As for keeping a regular ball from rolling... I immediately thought of an old car tyre. It may be a bit of a pain to slide around because of the weight, but it seems perfect for the job. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

One of the best decisions I've made it to keep light weights and general exercise gear in my studio, and yes, I do some light exercise when something is downloading or while I'm listening to the playback during edits (while still reading the script). It's part of how I lost over 30 pounds in 2011 without ever going to the gym. It all keeps me from 'couch potato mode' in the studio. Lately, I've been rolling out the yoga/exercise ball while editing and sitting on that. However, during recording that thing goes back into the closet...it's like the most reflective surface imaginable! _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

A secretary at my school has used it for years and loved it. Tried it myself and liked it. No noise and if you are fidgety, it will give you something else to do. _________________ http://neilkhessvo.com |
