I have done a bunch of Voice123 auditions in the past few days....
1) I have been awarded two jobs.. in one, I was ranked as FINALIST.. in the other, I received no ranking at all
2) Of the other auditions.. the majority have been ranked as either a FINALIST, MAYBE or CONSIDERING..
Here's where it gets weird..
One of those "considering".. was changed to "you will not be considered".. which from what I gather, means you are never allowed to audition for that client again.. the "kiss of death".
Could this ranking system be any more idiotic?

I'm starting to come around to understanding the only idiotic thing about the whole ranking process there, comes down to me being the idiot for taking it seriously.. |

The ranking process is fundamentally flawed for the reasons outlined above. Second ranked "finalist" can be a "will not be considered" simply because one other person is better suited. It happens to me all the time. I hadn't heard of any larger implications due to this rating (apart from a lower overall score in their ranking system). There is little or no guidance for the "seeker" in if, how or why they should rate an audition. Ultimately meaningless, eminently ignorable... but unfortunately, somewhat staring you in the face and screaming.
I don't even check the box to be notified if it's been opened any more... it's a meaningless distraction. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Agreed. I stopped even caring. I have found so much freedom from doing an audition, and moving on with my life. It made me absolutely crazy to check on things like that. Just fagedabodit! |

Yeah, I got a "will not be considered" this week (I wonder if it was the same voice seeker?).
I've also figured the voice seeker doesn't realize they are handing out the "kiss of death" or even know that the rankings affect the talent.
In a way I kind of like the simplicity of Voices.com...check mark if it's listened to...thumbs up if they like it...and awarded if they really like it _________________ Tracy Kinkead

Okay. Voices123 peeps. If the voice seekers are not able to figure out how to properly rank someone, then change the wording of the ranking from"will not be considered".. To "will NEVER" be considered", because that's essentially what it means
It's just frikkin annoying. good lord |

Not so sure about that. Apparently, the wording on the "seeker" side doesn't use that language. From what I know, it is pretty clear that they are requesting never to get auditions from this talent again.
If this has changed, Steven will set us straight. _________________ Playing for a living...

You're kind of assuming that most talent seekers know how to use the ranking system and I find that hard to believe considering the oddball rankings .. I get ranked "considering" and then 30 minutes later get ranked "you will not be considered" on the same audition..
Thats why I think it best to follow the previous advice from Jason and Bish and pay no mind to that silliness. |

... and the other side of the coin is that I'm always landing gigs where I've been ranked "maybe" or had no ranking at all. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Of the last ten auditions I've done I have one "Not Likely," one "Considering," and three "Finalists." So far, I haven't been hired for any of them, including the "Finalists." And I'm not holding my breath. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Who gives a f what they think.
If they were pros, they wouldn't be on the site.
Work for them if you like. A gig is a gig.
But don't let them validate you. That's a trap you can't crawl out of.

Sweat not! It's totally meaningless. It is just the client's way of narrowing down auditions on a job by job basis. It does not appear in your dreaded "permanent record".
However, speaking of keeping meaningless drivel in the "permanent record", I just read that Twitter and the Library of (frikkin') Congress have made a deal to store every tweet ever created in the L of C!!!!! 170 billion so far.
WTF folks. I guess it's Nature's way of controlling the population. Many of us will drown in the flood of minutiae, while many others will get hit by a bus while texting while crossing the street. It may all work out in the end.

That's not necessarily the case. Of all the people who have hired me from Voice123, I'd say the majority were pros. On the other hand, before being hired and actually doing business with the "seekers." we generally have no idea what qualifications they have to pass judgement on our work. Thus I consider these rankings relatively meaningless, and checking them is akin to "rubbernecking" as you drive past an accident site on the highway. It satisfies your curiosity but doesn't actually accomplish anything. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
