Thank all of you for sharing your insights. As one relatively new to the VO business and grappling with the many challenges it presents as I try to find my way (and make the rent!), I for one find the information here invaluable, and your candid sharing inspiring.

Oh ,,, and the general sense of humor and friendly banter is refreshing.

I think the reason most people fail at voiceovers is because they don't understand a simple concept:

When you're in the booth, you're an artist.
When you're not in the booth, you're a business.

And even when you're in the booth, you're still a business because you represent it. Most people want to be just the artist, not the business and don't want to have to do the work to get the work.

"That's what an agent is for, right? So I don't have to do all that stuff?"

In 1973, maybe. Now, not so much...
