|
|
Hi guys, I'm wracking my brain trying to come up with a usable quote for this, so thought I should throw it out there to get your thoughts. I submitted an original quote for a large job (12 corporate videos at 4 mins each) for online usage only. Their follow-up email is asking what my usage fee would be for "all websites". I'm stumped as to how exactly to address this next. My original quote included buyout, but I guess (silly me) I was thinking of usage on one website only.
My next step was going to be writing back to clarify how many websites is "all", but I also need some thoughts on the issue of "usage fees" for this category in general.
Thanks for any suggestions or instructions you might have.

Personally, I don't break down to multiple websites. If it's a corporate (i.e. non-broadcast media) I always assume that web use means the main company, its subsidiaries, agents or retailers that sell their products, YouTube, Vimeo and any other platform. So, if I was lucky enough to do a web video for (say) Ford, I'd be prepared to see it on Ford dealer's websites as well.
Radio and TV have established models, but I think we're buying ourselves a world of pain if we try to use the old model on new media. How do you deal with the video being hosted on one site and a link to it being on another?
But, if they're inviting you to charge more... then slap another 50% on for all web use, and make them think they're getting a deal _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

200% of your original fee for all the videos to cover all media use excluding broadcast media. |

And a 15%, um.....Microphone Fee. Yeah, that's it! (a wedding/corporate photog our band worked with a lot actually had a $500 "camera fee" built into her fee for all the high-end gigs we used to do - nobody questioned it at all...wild...) _________________ Chris Mezzolesta, Voice Talent

$500 Camera Fee?
Man, we should start charging per cubic feet of air.
By all means ask for more. Start with Philip's recommendation and don't go lower than Peter's. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Thanks to all of you, for both the funny and the money (advice) I'm going to work at taking a middle-route approach, like Deebs suggested. Will let you know if I hear back from them _________________ Arlene Cooke
