We are Voice Over people and we are chosen for our voices ..Dats a faq!

Of course ...blah blah blah (perpetuate the myth)

It's NOT about your voice, simply ain't true.

Where people get confused is in understanding THEIR voices. It is not about a noise, affected nonsense, growling, purring, rumbling ...IT IS ABOUT YOUR VOICE!

If you are a writer you get hired not for your typing but for your writing. If you are a Voice Over you get hired for the voice you bring to the production.

Think about your voice, every element of it including the "great pipes". List around 10 things that give you your voice and then you will discover your voice and be able to sell it.

It is ALL about the voice but you need to understand what that means an' what it don't.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We so often hear people admonish newcomers, "It's not just about having a good voice," which is frequently misinterpreted in the same way that people misconstrue "Money doesn't buy happiness" to mean either "you can't be truly happy if you have lots of money" (hogwash), or "poorer people are happier than richer people." While both of those interpretations are possible, they are not automatic. The statement is just another way of saying "there are no guarantees."

In the same way, "it's not about having a good voice" doesn't mean that your voice is unimportant. You still need to have one -- whether it's deep or melodious or just unique -- but then you have to learn how to use it. And how to sell it. For every Andy Devine or Sterling Holloway there are thousands of people with arguably "bad" voices who have only the slimmest chance of achieving the success they did. And there are tens of thousands of people like me, with decent voices, who can't possibly rely upon those voices alone, but are grateful to at least have a foundation to build on.

Hey, that's a really good camera... I bet you take some awesome pictures!

Gee... those are some expensive pans, I bet you cook some really good stuff with them...

The right tools do not dictate the end result... they help, and are part of the creation process. Buy me the best power tools in the world and my shelves will still fall apart.

A trained photographer with a good eye can probably take a better picture with a cell phone camera than a rank amateur with the most expensive gear, and a top chef could most likely whip up a better tasting meal on a Boy Scout surplus mess kit than a neophyte could with the best restaurant quality equipment. But that photographer can take even better pictures using the pro gear, and the chef can conjure an even more unforgettable dinner with the right stove, knives, and pots & pans.

The greatest success comes from having good tools and knowing how to use them.
