I'd prefer that you sit...you might as well be comfortable while you listen.
(For the record, I almost always stand.) _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

I sit for long stuff, and stand for stuff that needs energy. I try to put myself in the physical stance that the listener would picture while they listen to the audio. |

Sit for corporates and long narrations, but always stand for ISDN sessions, characters, animations etc. When you have to be physical, sound like you're running or are off mic, it's much harder to do this sitting down.I like to use my hands to accent and articulate, so standing for me is much better. Nancy used to always tell if I was sitting... over the phone from London to LA!! _________________ https://www.darrenaltman.com/

I prefer to stand, but since I'm looking at doing more long form narration, I'm in need of a chair. So, suggestions, preferences? Back? No back? I'm thinking no swivel. Nothing that will be noisy... |

I think one of those convertible desks that you can raise to work while standing, or lower to use while sitting would be fabulous.

There are quite a few people who use them. I prefer to just have a mic on broadcast boom with an iPad mount up high. I just move the mic and the script, and everything else stays where it was. Much easier if you plan on switching back and forth all day. |

For anything that's not an audiobook, I always stand up to record.
If I could, I'd stand for my audiobook work too, but that's just not practical. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

I stood for my last two audiobooks, but if I had the right chair/stool, I might sit. I do have a tall stool that I can use to perch on if needed. But it isn't really comfortable, so I usually stand.
Funny thing though, one studio I still go to has a tall stool with a back - and I usually sit for those sessions - they are usually longer sessions - but not as long as audiobooks. And the reads always turn out great, so if I had the right chair/stool I might consider experimenting. I guess one of the big reasons I stand is that there is not a lot of room in my booth. _________________ Playing for a living...
