Hi!

I have it on high authority that as I am knocking on the door of this community, an introduction is in order (many thanks to both Lizden & Melissa Ex for that heads uHobo Happy.

I have used VO-BB as a resource and guide for well over a year to learn about how to proceed into the journey that is VO. I had a little radio background from college literally 40 years ago, as well as some acting almost 20 years ago, and have always been technically proficient on an audio engineering/recording basis, but it is not enough to simply "add water and become an instant Voice artist". I am still green enough that the Great Lawn in Central Park around mid June has nothing on me.

Through this board, I have come to understand and begin develop self awareness to analyze what works, or what might be blocking me for a simple natural read of a script . To that end, I started with a great coach a few months ago who is helping me get up to speed in hearing what I am doing (how are you gonna self direct if you don't know what to listen for, and what people who choose you may want). I recently started doing vocal excercises, which after a week has already manifested itself in a more confident reading style (who knew?).

Although I have put together a really good studio (these always have 1001 household uses), I am not yet ready to to do demos. I recognize that, and will know when I am ready, so you will not see a post from me in the critique section until I think I will not be wasting anyone's time.

My goal is to proceed in VO without posting on a "How I Will Sell My Soul For Five Dollars" style BB. I think if I were to start there, I would be defining my value from the get-go and settling.

I am fully available for Llama duty. I learn fast.

Am I on the right track?

You have your head in the right place. Welcome.

People in our job believe that the way to do things is to be a market follower, it isn't it, most people in the market know nothing and the market itself runs nowhere fuelled by ignorance and poverty. Make your market, decide where you want to be and start there.

Quote of the decade - "most people in the market know nothing and the market itself runs nowhere fuelled by ignorance and poverty"

Award awaited.

Two major pluses here:

1) Doing what Liz and Mel say.
2) Having a healthy attitude towards the bottom of the barrel.

Welcome aboard to another New Yorker!
