That's a sad one to see.

In fairness, you can likely count "good" SW games on one hand. The ones that make the cut that were programmed and developed by LucasArts? Even fewer. Most would agree that the first Knights of the Old Republic, and both Battlefront games were the best until The Old Republic came along. Thing is - Those were done by BioWare (Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc) & Pandemic (Mercenaries 1 & 2).

It's a sad day, to be sure, but the quality of the forthcoming games has everything to do with the developers and less to do with the publishers.

Agree with Ben. nostalgia aside, Lucasarts hadn't produced anything worth mentioning in 10 years.

And, I would be shocked, SHOCKED, if someone didn't snatch up the rights to 1313 forthwith.

Grand Theft Alderaan? Yes, please.

LucasArts made a lot more than just Star Wars. Monkey Island, anyone?

They were moving much more to a licensing model in recent years, which I didn't think was a good idea. But some great titles came out under their name- Lego Star Wars, anyone? But they were just the publisher, not the developer, for most of them.

And yeah, sad that 1313 isn't going to see the light of day.

As an INTERNAL developer, they had done nothing in the last 10 years. Monkey Island was, what, 20 years ago, at least? Can't ride those coattails forever. And they failed to do ANYTHING with their other successful IPs like Full Throttle and Grim Fandango.

Their best titles were done by other developers: Bioware did Knights of the Old Republic and Traveller's Tales did the Lego Star Wars.

LucasArts, frankly, became irrelevant as a dev house.

I'm a pretty big fan of the lego game series. Lego StarWars rocked!

In terms of legacy, Lucasarts had it. In terms of relevance, Lucasarts lost it. Telltale is holding on to Monkey Island for now. Hopefully they can do something worthwhile with it.
