I recently picked up a new mic on eBay. So far, I really, really like it ... but I'll let you be the judge. The attached link takes you to a comparison of the two mics - I'd really appreciate your thoughts on which one you like best and why. Please don't be too critical of the reads Smile just for test purposes!

I'll post the names of the two mics later today ...

I really like the sound of the first mic on your voice. The second one sounds like it has almost a midrange distortion. Maybe that's just the way your voice interacts with the mic. The second one also did not reject reflection as well as the first. Your room is more present in the second clip. I'm thinking that it is really just because the second mic is picking up more in the mids, and that is where your room's reflection sits. To my ear, mic one takes the cake.

I would concur that Mic 1 sounds better overall. Nice read too!

Not that I'm a mic geek or anything but looking FORWARD to the resultz Laugh

Thank you all - I appreciate your feedback so far! I'll give you a hint - Mic #1 cost me 1/10th the money of Mic #2 ...

Anyone want to make any wild-ass guesses about the identities of the mics?

A hint, maybe? Is #1 a dynamic or condenser?

BTW, I like mic #1 over mic #2 also. Mic 2 seems more silibant on your voice in this read.

If that is really the CAD, I'm gonna have to get one. Everyone keeps trying that mic and saying it is awesome. If it is the CAD, it DEFINITELY sounds better on your voice.

a CAD e100s is $399 @ B&H... hard to believe Mic #2 is a $4000 mic.. if in fact that's how it all shakes down

A (small) bag of Oreo cookies to Rob - he identified the mics correctly. I bought the CAD E100s for $252.50 on eBay. I paid $2500 (used) for the Neumann U87ai.
