|
|
Can anyone whose website and/or blog is based in WordPress recommend a hosting company whose support staff resides on this planet and reads, understands and speaks at least grade school-level English and demonstrates that they are well-versed in WordPress?
Hint: GoDaddy is not such a hosting company, unless you have won in a contest a lifetime supply of Valium.

I signed up with my provider many, many moons ago because their office was a mile from my house and I could go over and look them in the eye if I had a question or a problem. I never needed to. They've given quick, easy to understand service and answers the few times I've asked.
They've changed names a few times and grown to be huge, but still act like your neighborhood business. Here's their rate sheet which has links to other stuff if you'd like:

I've been successfully using A Small Orange for a while now.
I get customer service response usually within 10 minutes of sending an email. Many times it's within minutes.
They know their stuff and they've always been super responsive and able to fix my issues. All US based support too from what I can tell.

The people at iPage are great. Very knowledgeable techs. I can always get somebody on the phone within 2–3 minutes if need be. _________________ "Dammit Jim, I'm a voice actor, not an audio engineer!"

I've had luck with Hostgator, but it depends on who you get. The last time I had a question, the person was fantastic. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

I've had good success with webhostinghub. They also have live chat, and I've been able to get immediate answers to my questions via phone or chat 100% of the time I called. I had a huge issue when I changed my main domain within their hosting (I did it wrong) and my email was down for a day. They did everything they could to help me understand what I screwed up and how to fix it. They also offer unlimited storage and bandwidth. |

Host Gator has amazing customer service, I've been blown away every time I've called (and it's been a few). The will even help you with stuff that isn't directly related to hosting like installing your theme etc.
If you need help designing or modifying your theme I would also highly recommend Steve Coplan of Coplan Creative Consulting. Extremely knowledgeable, affordable and great to work with. (I don't know him outside of the work he has done for me)

DreamHost has worked well for my JoesDump.com site.
They have a "one-click-install" on their control panel, but you can tweak WP to your heart's content. Customer service response has been good with them too... _________________ "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
