I've relocated to South Florida (Keys) for two months and ordered ISDN service from AT&T six weeks in advance of needing it. I was delusional in expecting that the install, service, performance, etc would proceed as one would hope. The fact that I had ordered ISDN twice before ( NOT from AT&T) led me to believe my experience would be the same. Maybe a small hiccup here or there , but overall not an impossible feat.....That is until I was caught up in the demonic maelstrom of this dysfunctional, bloated Hydra that is AT&T.
The issues I'm having (or had) include: "misplaced or misdirected order",
" installation may not be possible at the location" even after assurance that there was no problem with that, confusing BRI with PRI (BIG difference),
the inability of AT&T to add THEIR long distance capability to the lines in a timely fashion....and on and on...(it continues, believe me).
I got lucky twice before with ISDN installation with nary an issue. I thought the third time would be the same.....until I met The Beast!
If I ever have to order service again....the first call I'll make is to Dave Immer at Digifon. With what I've had to endure as well as the HOURS wasted...his service is worth three times the price. |

I bought a codec.... Then I called AT&T....
Fiber's at the corner. Codec's still in the closet. _________________ Don Brookshire

Having heard the horror stories, I called Dave Immer first. ISDN was installed Monday and, presumably, working (haven't had a chance to test it with real live voiceoverists yet). Money well spent. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Trust me Lee, those horror stories don't even come close to the truth. It is MUCH worse with this company. |

Mine could have been a horror story but it wasn't. The AT&T guy showed up at about 2:30, installed the line, checked in with the central office, and spent about five hours trying to get it to work but couldn't get it to sync up. He was communicating with a woman at the C.O. who is apparently the "queen of ISDN" around here and knows all there is to know about the subject. Between them, they determined that somewhere in the bowels of the phone company, my line was connected to the wrong circuit.
At then end of his shift, the installer told me someone else would be back the next day to finish the installation (it was his day off). On Tuesday, another installer showed up with a work order, saw everything the previous guy did, and couldn't figure out why he was at my house. I explained that when the first guy left, the line still wasn't working. Guy number 2 called in to the "queen" (he had equally high praise for her), they ran a few tests, and between them determined that whatever the problem head been on Monday, it was corrected at the C.O. overnight and everything was running as it should be.
I got an e-mail from Dave Immer today asking when I wanted him to run a test, but I was too busy with other things. I guess we'll do that on Monday. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
